Operation Terror: Black Tornado: ZEE5’s upcoming web series based on 26/11 terror attacks

ZEE5’s upcoming web series, named Operation Terror: Black Tornado, is based on Mumbai’s 26/11 terror attacks.

The eight-episode show will adapt Sandeep Unnithan’s book Black Tornado: The Three Sieges of Mumbai 26/11. The series stars well-known actors from TV and digital space.

The cast includes Vivek Dahiya, Arjun Bijlani, Zachary Coffin, Mukul Dev, Tara Alisha Berry, Sid Makkar, Arjan Bajwa amongst others.

The story revolves around how Indian officials “stood up and fought back” against world’s first hybrid terrorist attack. The series will be set in three countries – India, USA and Israel.

The name of the book and show has been inspired by the code name given to the operation by the National Security Guard (NSG) of the country.

The show has begun production under the banner of Contiloe Pictures by Abhimanyu Singh (founder and CEO). It is being directed and co-created by Matthew Leutwyler.

It was also be co-scripted by Joshua Caldwell, who is best known for his work in the American crime drama series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

Earlier this year, Contiloe Pictures acquired the rights to Unnithan’s book, which allows them to create a web adaptation. This will mark Singh’s debut in the digital space.

However, some actors of the show have previously worked in the digital entertainment space. Makkar is known for his role in the Emmy nominated Netflix series Sense8.

Likewise, Coffin has been a part of ALTBalaji’s The Verdict: State vs Nanavati and Amazon Prime Video India’s Made In Heaven (MIH).

Earlier this year, Singh also stated that the show will have more characters than the book to help with the story.

The show will also star Vikram Gaikwad and Avinash Wadhawan in important roles.

Operation Terror: Black Tornado will count as Dahiya and Bijlani’s debut in the digital space. However, both actors have been well established in Indian Television and are currently working on other projects.

Bijlani is also rumoured to be signed for an upcoming Bollywood film alongside Taapsee Pannu named Dare and Lovely.
