The Sci-Fi epic, ‘Rebel Moon’, has expanded an already stellar cast with some quality additions in what will be Zack Snyder’s second venture with Netflix following ‘Army of the Dead’.
Cary Elwes, Michiel Huisman, Alfonso Herrera and Corey Stoll are the latest members to be announced for the film which will begin production later this year.
Rebel Moon follows a group of colonists on the edge of the galaxy who enlist warriors to help them fight back against the invading forces of an intergalactic dictator. While initially meant to be a ‘Star Wars’ spin-off, Snyder eventually decided to take it in its own direction.
Snyder has also stated that the film is heavily inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s ‘Seven Samurai’ which has influenced several other films of the past such as ‘The Magnificent Seven’ and even ‘A Bug’s Life’.
Previously announced members of the cast include Sofia Boutella, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Djimon Hounsou, Charlie Hunnam, and Jena Malone.
Snyder is directing and co-wrote the script with ‘Army of the Dead’ co-screenwriter Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, who worked with him on the movie ‘300’. Snyder is also producing with his producing partner and wife, Deborah Snyder, and Wesley Coller via the trio’s The Stone Quarry production banner.
