Zack Snyder’s ‘Justice League’ gets official teaser at DC FanDome

HBO Max announced earlier this year that director Zack Snyder’s original cut of DCEU’s 2017 film Justice League will be finished and released on the streaming platform in 2021. Now, the DC FanDome has taken place and the fans have been treated to the first official teaser for the film.

Snyder earlier released an official sneak peek for the film featuring DC Universe’s biggest villain, Darkseid, in a buildup to DC FanDome which took place on August 22. The teaser released, showcases a lot of new footage along with revamped scenes from the theatrical version.

It was also revealed that Snyder’s Justice League will be released in four, one hour episodes, but will also be presented as a complete four hour feature for audiences who want to enjoy it that way.

Zack Snyder stepped down from the film to take some time off due to a family tragedy in 2017. However, he made the huge announcement during a live commentary watch-party he hosted for Superman film Man of Steel with Henry Cavill on May 20.

Ever since news broke out of Snyder stepping down as Justice League’s director midway through production, the film’s downfall commenced. Joss Whedon was handed the responsibility to finish the highly anticipated movie in a dwindling franchise. Having directed the first two Avengers for Marvel, the pressure on Whedon was immense but he had his own set of challenges to face.

Warner Bros. ordered reshoots and changed Snyder’s original vision for the film. Extra money was spent on digitally removing Cavill’s facial hair during the reshoots as he was contractually not allowed to shave by the makers of Mission Impossible: Fallout during the time.

After extensive reshoots, rushed CGI, a $300 million budget, and an uninspiring story, Justice League was panned by the audience and critics alike. The film grossed a little over $650 million which was not enough for it to break even and therefore, it was a box-office failure.

Unhappy fans started a petition and #ReleaseTheSnyderCut starting gaining heat. Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck, Jason Momoa and Zack Snyder too added fuel to fire by tweeting the hashtag. After it was confirmed by the director himself that his cut exists, the fandom went into overdrive to pester Warner Bros. for it.

After almost three years of trending hashtags, social media mentions, articles, and blog posts, the higher-ups at the studio have finally given fans what they have been rallying for.

Snyder in a statement said:

“I want to thank HBO Max and Warner Brothers for this brave gesture of supporting artists and allowing their true visions to be realized. Also a special thank you to all of those involved in the SnyderCut movement for making this a reality.”

Even the film’s cast weighed in on the celebrations:
