Whispers: Netflix ready to release Saudi Arabia based thriller

Netflix has revealed that it will be releasing an upcoming Saudi Arabia based thriller and drama called Whispers.

The original series is all set to release on June 11, 2020 in 190 countries.

The web series is produced by Saudi Entertainment Phenomena Company called EP Saudi and will feature eight episodes. Whispers is written by Roolan Hassan and directed by Hana Alomair.

The series’ subtitles will be translated into 20 languages.

As per the official description, the story of Whispers will be as follows:

A family who face the death of the family patriarch, Hassan, whose mysterious past resurfaces days before the expected launch of his company’s new smart application. The story develops from the different perspectives of the series’ protagonists and examines many social issues, such as family feuds and struggles brought forth by the business world. 

The cast of Whispers includes Shaimaa Al Fadl, Mysoon Alruwaily, Elham Ali, Nada Tawhid, Norah Alanbar, Leila Arabi, Ali Al Sharif, Osama Al Qass, Mohamed Ali and Abdul Mohsen Alnimer amongst others.

Speaking about the upcoming series and her cast, Alomair stated:

‘Whispers’ is a Saudi-produced dramatic thriller series that offers a new take on storytelling and marks my first time working with the great actor, Abdul Mohsen Alnimer. The series also features several unconventional female characters who truly embody the reasons why this project is so close to my heart. I am very proud that Netflix decided to make the series available to their 183 million subscribers worldwide and I hope viewers in Saudi Arabia, the GCC, the Arab region and beyond will enjoy it. 

Netflix has created a mark for itself by creating several foreign language shows such as the German thriller Dark and the Belgian hit Into The Night. The streaming giant has specially gained popularity for its Spanish originals like Money Heist and Elite.
