‘When Eagles Dare: Crystal Palace’ traces club’s resurgence

Amazon Prime Video Sport has released the trailer of ‘When Eagles Dare: Crystal Palace’, which explores the club’s resurgence after near closure. It comes out on June 4.

The series includes never-before-seen footage from the 2012-13 season, and statements from officials at the club as well as current and former players.

Back in 2010, the club faced financial ruin and found itself on the brink of extinction. Its stadium, Selhurst Park, had come under The Bank of Scotland.

A consortium with wealthy fans called CPFC2010, led by entrepreneur Steve Parish, managed to strike a deal with the bank and save the club and reunited it with its stadium.

The club managed to recover rapidly, and found itself on the cusp of Premier League qualification after reaching the play-offs during the 2012-13 season.

It ended up winning 1-0 against Watford in the final, reaching the biggest league in England for the first time since 1998.
