Sriram Raghavan to helm web series on Kandahar hijacking

Sriram Raghavan, whose upcoming project Ekkis, starring Varun Dhawan, has been delayed, has started working on a web series which will be based on 1999 Kandahar Hijack.

The director has started working on the new project which will be based on plane hijacking by Harkat-ul-Mujahideen terrorist group.

The Indian Airlines Flight AC-814 was hijacked on 24th December 1999 in a quest to release three terrorists arrested by the Indian Government.

The flight was bound from Nepal to India and was hijacked by 5 terrorists. The hijackers released 27 passengers in Dubai on 31st December, after the terrorists were released. However, they stabbed and killed one passenger and many others were wounded.

Presently, the director and his team are researching the events and getting in touch with the witnesses and the passengers in the Indian Airlines Flight AC-814. The web series will seemingly go on floors next year. This project will also mark Raghavan’s first digital debut.
