WandaVision: Disney+ series blurs lines between reality and illusion

Marvel has released the first official trailer for their upcoming Disney+ series, WandaVision. It will feature Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprising their roles as Wanda Maximoff and Vision from the MCU movies.

It is difficult to make sense of the plot from the trailer as it is as confusing as the first official poster, released in December last year, made it look. It blends a black & white vintage television narrative with the more modern one we’re used to.

However, it is evident that the events taking place are more of an illusion than reality. Reason being Vision’s character is suppose to be dead (spoiler alert for Avengers Infinity War and Endgame).

The official description of the show reads:

“WandaVision is a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.”

There is no set release date for WandaVision yet but after Covid-19 delayed the Black Widow movie starring Scarlett Johansson, this is a welcome addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
