Voot Select: Viacom18 releases new streaming service

Viacom 18’s Voot has released a new streaming service by the name of Voot Select. The service will run on a subscription-based model.

It has been priced at Rs. 99 per month and Rs. 999 per year as of now.

The video-on-demand (VoD) service currently has a base of about 100 million monthly users.

Voot Select is under Viacom18 Digital Ventures and will be headed by Ferzad Palia, who is the current Head for Youth, Music and English.

Viacom18 also launched Voot Kids last year – a digital service that caters to the demand for entertainment content for children.

Viacom18’s group CEO and MD, Sudhanshu Vats stated: “The video-on-demand market is the fastest-growing segment in the media and entertainment sector today. Subscription-led business models are going to be the next big growth drivers in the years to come.”

Additionally, Gourav Rakshit, COO at Viacom18 Digital Ventures also claimed: “With Voot, the successful launch of Voot Kids and now Voot Select, our aim is to build a versatile and immersive digital ecosystem that will add value to our users.”

“Currently, in its final leg of testing, the all-new Voot Select once live will see many untapped genres being made available for our users to experience and enjoy.”
