Vir Das to have Happy Home Concert on Instagram

It has been a few days since the government imposed a country-wide lockdown in India. The pandemic has disrupted the daily lives of the people and there is always the fear that people might step out of their houses when it is not needed. Comedian Vir Das may have a solution.

To encourage everyone to stay at home and to make quarantine bearable, various artists are trying to keep people entertained. They are using social media platforms to reach out to the audience; organising live concerts to return to some semblance of normalcy.

Following the example of Weekender, Das is also having a concert, live on Instagram, on the night of Saturday 28 March. The time of the concert is from 9 pm to 9.30 pm. It is called “Vir’s Happy Home Concert”.

He has indicated that he would be performing not just comedy sets but songs as well on Saturday night. He has released a set list for his followers prior to the concert. “Happy Home Concert” is free of cost for everyone.

Apart from encouraging people to stay home, the concert also aims at helping people who have been affected the most by the disease and the lockdown imposed to contain its spread. Das has used the brand interest on the concert to feed daily wagers, to arrange masks for doctors, to send Corona kits to the homeless, and to feed Mumbai’s strays.

This philanthropic move by Das comes days after the start of his new series, Bright Side with Vir Das on YouTube, in which he “attempts to make light of very dark themes and situations.”

“Happy Home Concert” is a part of “Live from HQ” initiative which includes, apart from Das, artists like Indian Ocean and Prateek Kuhad. It is curated and produced by Big Bad Wolf.
