Ace-producer Ekta Kapoor has announced AltBalaji’s next venture, ‘Verdict 2: The People v/s Indira Gandhi’. The web series is set in the Emergency period and will follow the verdict which led to the Emergency and the former Prime Minister’s involvement in the same.
The Emergency imposed by then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, is a huge event in the history of Indian politics and has garnered a variety of opinions.
Kapoor announced that Verdict 2 is based on two books that have in-depth information about the period: The Case that Shook India by Prashant Bhushan and Emergency Retold by Kuldip Nayar.
The upcoming web series is the second installation of The Verdict series which is streaming on the platform. The show which streamed in 2019 was based on the Nanavati case; the same case on which Akshay Kumar’s Rustom is based. It features Manav Kaul, Kubbra Sait, Elli AvrRam, Sumeet Vyas, Viraf Patel among others.
