Undertaker: The Last Ride set to premiere on WWE Network

WWE has announced that Part 1 of the 5-part documentary based on The Undertaker will release this Sunday, May 10, right after the Money in the Bank pay-per-view on WWE Network.

The official description says:

The unprecedented limited-series event chronicling over three years in the career of The Phenom.

Synopsis

Titled Undertaker: The Last Ride, this docu-series will follow the man behind the gimmick, Mark Calaway, as he deals with injuries, old age and his determination to keep performing. The recently released trailer features him expressing that he doesn’t want to stay too long in the business and become a parody of himself.

It contains clips of Calaway undergoing surgeries and receiving injections for his long list of injuries through the years. Snippets of interviews with other wrestlers like Edge, Shane McMahon, Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold Steve Austin, AJ Styles, Ric Flair and his wife Michelle McCool are also shown.

The documentary addresses the topic of mind vs. body and how age eventually forces the latter to ‘tap out’. Calaway comments on dealing with doubt and the risk of being on the end of a fatal blow.

With a career spanning over three decades, The Undertaker has been a household name for wrestling fans since the 90s. It will interesting to see Calaway out of character and connect with the audience as something other than ‘The Dead Man’.

Parts 2 and 3 of the documentary will be released weekly after Sunday. However, Parts 4 and 5 will premiere on June 14 and 21 respectively.
