TVF to launch 20 originals in 2020

Popular Indian streaming platform The Viral Fever aka TVF is aiming to launch 20 originals in 2020.

The number is a significant increase from the 12 originals it released last year through its platform TVFPlay, Sony Liv, MX Player and Amazon Prime Video. It released 4 the year before.

Talking to Brand Equity, TVF’s head and chief creative officer Sameer Saxena stated, “It’s been a great year for us since our OTT partnerships have all paid off. MX Player had a good launch, and our shows on the platform continue to do well.

“Two of Sony Liv’s biggest shows are from the TVF stable, and our content licensed to Netflix also has been well received. Now we have started licensing shows to Amazon (Prime Video) as well.”

TVF is one of the biggest local players in the streaming wars. It was one of the first platforms which rose to prominence through original content, starting with Permanent Roommates in 2014.

It went on to give out more massive hits such as Pitchers, Tripling and Yeh Meri Family. Its most recent success came in the form of Kota Factory last year.

The platform also raised ₹35 crore ($5 million) last year through a Deries D funding round for fresh content, raising its valuation to ₹566 crore ($80 million).

It looks like they have both feet on the accelerator.
