Trailer out for Prime Video’s R-rated superhero series The Boys

Amazon Prime Video has released the trailer for its upcoming R-rated superhero series The Boys.

The show is a fresh take on the genre. It revolves around a group of vigilantes aiming to take down corrupt superheroes who exploit their fame and powers.

The trailer shows glimpses of Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) recruiting his ragtag group of miscreants comprising Frenchie (Tomer Kapon), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), The Female (Karen Fukuhara) and Hughie (Jack Quaid).

Showcasing some outrageous scenes, the trailer only gets more insane when Spice Girls’ Wannabe starts playing.

The eight-episode series also features Elisabeth Shue, Erin Moriarty, Antony Starr, Dominique McElligott and Chace Crawford.

Developed by Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, the series is based on comics of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.

The Boys will premiere on 26 July.
