Tom Holland’s drug drama ‘Cherry’ to premiere on Apple TV+ in 2021

The much awaited Tom Holland film, Cherry, has been acquired by Apple and will be released on its streaming service next year. It has been directed by The Russo Brothers.

Based on the novel of the same name, Cherry loosely follows the life of the author, Niko Walker. It chronicles his days from enlisting in the army, returning from Iraq with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder to being addicted to prescription pills and eventually getting into heroin. His life turns to unlawfulness to satisfy his addictions and to pay off debts.

The actual Walker was still in prison for his crimes when the Russos managed to buy the rights for his story. This is their first project as directors after Marvel’s Avengers Endgame which released in early 2019.

According to comments by the brothers, Holland has put in an Oscar worthy performance in the film which is in stark contrast to what the audience have seen so far from him. This is the fourth collaboration between The Russos and Holland after Captain America Civil War, Avengers Infinity War, and Avengers Endgame.

The director duo are producing Cherry under their AGBO banner.
