Netflix’s ‘The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf’ to debut next month

Netflix has officially announced that ‘The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf’  will release on August 23.

Originally confirmed last year, ‘The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf’ will serve as an animated prequel to the series. The film will focus on Geralt’s mentor Vesemir and will take place before the events of the live-action show.

The announcement was made during a fan event for the franchise called, ‘WitcherCon’, that streamed on Netflix’s YouTube channel. The Korean studio ‘Mir’ will be handling the anime film with ‘The Witcher’ showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich returning as producer.

Following the wild success of the show ‘The Witcher’ which released in December 2019, the streaming service has decided to turn it into a franchise. In addition to ‘Nightmare of the Wolf’, a second season to the original series and a live-action spin-off starring Michelle Yeoh has been confirmed.
