The series is based on a comic book series of the same name, created by Gabriel Bá and Gerard Way, the lead vocalist of My Chemical Romance.
The Umbrella Academy has been nominated for six Primetime Emmy awards for its cinematography, visual effects, costumes and production design.

Elated to have successfully transported themselves back to the present, the extraordinary siblings find themselves in a muddle as they find that a time paradox has left them trapped in an alternate reality where Hargreeves had adopted other children instead of them. The paradox is also responsible for unleashing the Kugelblitz, a strange sphere swallowing the world little by little.
The Umbrella Academy is replaced by The Sparrow Academy and is made up of strangers with mysterious superpowers. Among these is a face Klaus knows well, Ben.
Although no longer members of The Umbrella Academy, versions of the original Hargreeves exist in this reality as well and must be avoided to prevent complications.
