The One on Netflix: Sci-fi take on relationships

The streaming giant, Netflix, released the trailer of its upcoming psychological thriller ‘The One’. All the episodes will release on March 12.

The One is based on a best-selling novel by John Marrs of the same name. The book and the upcoming web series are hypothetical takes on relationships to find the perfect match using science and technology.

The trailer gives us a glimpse of Rebecca (Hannah Ware), the woman who began using DNA and technological software to find ‘The One’ made for you, entangled in the spiral of challenges after the mysterious death of a man.

The official description of the web series reads:

“The One is set five minutes in the future, in a world where a DNA test can find your perfect partner – the one person you’re genetically predisposed to fall passionately in love with. No matter how good your relationship, which one of us can honestly say we haven’t thought about whether there is someone better out there? What if a hair sample is all it takes to find them? The idea is simple, but the implications are explosive. We will never think of love and relationships in the same way again.”

The movie also stars, Stephen Campbell Moore, Olivia Chenery, Lois Chimimba, Albano Jerónimo, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, Dimitri Leonidas, Diarmaid Murtagh, Jana Pérez, Wilf Scolding and Zoë Tapper.
