Netflix has revealed the trailer Charlize Theron starrer action film, The Old Guard.
Theron is playing the role of an immortal mercenary and is also producing the film along with Stan Wlodkowski as the executive producer.
The official synopsis of The Old Guard reads:
“Led by a warrior named Andy (Charlize Theron), a covert group of tight-knit mercenaries with a mysterious inability to die have fought to protect the mortal world for centuries. But when the team is recruited to take on an emergency mission and their extraordinary abilities are suddenly exposed, it’s up to Andy and Nile (KiKi Layne), the newest soldier to join their ranks, to help the group eliminate the threat of those who seek to replicate and monetize their power by any means necessary.”
The film is based on the popular graphic novel by Greg Rucka. It is a gritty, grounded, and action-laden narrative that portrays the difficulties of being immortal.
The Old Guard has been directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood and also features Marwan Kenzari (Wolf), Matthias Schoenaerts (Loft), and Chiwetel Ejiofor (The Lion King) in pivotal roles.
The Netflix original is set to premiere on July 10.
