‘The Mole’ reboot announced by Netflix, premieres October 7

Netflix has announced the reboot of ABC reality series ‘The Mole’. The original show ran for five seasons from 2002.

The reboot will premiere on October 7 on the platform. In the three-week event, new episodes will be released each week until the identity of the mole comes to light. MSNBC anchor Alex Wagner will be the host.

The concept of the show is to identify the mole planted among the contestants by the producers to maximize their earnings. The amount of money the contestants take home is dependent on The Mole sabotaging the jackpot by negatively impacting the challenges.

Wagner said about ‘The Mole’: “The original Mole was a sort of seismic event in American television. It broke the mold. There’s every reason to watch the reboot because I think the concept of the show is ever more resonant today.

“We have refreshed a lot of the elements to make them even more compelling than the original — and that was pretty damn compelling.”
