‘The Lying Life of Adults’ to stream on Netflix from January 4, 2023

Italian drama series ‘The Lying Life of Adults’ will premiere on Netflix on January 4, 2023, the streaming network has announced.

The six-episode show is based on the novel of the same name by Elena Ferrate. It follows Giovanna (Giordana Marengo) and her journey from childhood to adolescence in 1990s Naples.

The official synopsis for the series reads: “The search for a new face, after the happy one of childhood, oscillates between two consanguineous Naples which, however, fear and hate each other: the Naples above, which has given itself a fine mask, and the one below, which pretends to be excessive, trivial.

“Giovanna oscillates between high and low, now tumbling, now climbing, bewildered by the fact that, up or down, the city seems without answer and without escape.”

In addition to Marengo, the cast includes Valeria Golino, Alessandro Preziosi, Azzurra Mennella and Rossella Gamba. Edoardo De Angelis is the director, while Ferrante, De Angelis, Laura Paolucci and Francesco Piccolo serve as the writers.
