‘The Kissing Booth 3’ combines summer fun with hard decisions

Netflix has dropped the official trailer of the much-anticipated ‘The Kissing Booth 3’ set to premiere on the platform on August 11. The final instalment of the American teen rom-com explores how Elle Evans (Joey King), through her dilemmas on the new journey towards adulthood, finds what she truly wants.

For the uninitiated, The Kissing Booth franchise is based on Beth Reekles’ self-published novels of the same name that revolve around the life of high schooler, Elle Evans.

The first movie of The Kissing Booth franchise, Netflix’s most-watched film of the year, was released in 2018 and the second installment came in July 2020.

‘The Kissing Booth 3’ trailer showcases summer revelry for its main leads who set base in Elle’s family beach house and indulge in adventures before they begin their new life at college.

As much as Elle tries to keep up with ticking off things on her beach bucket list with bestie Lee (Joel Courtney) and spending time with boyfriend Noah Flynn (Jacob Elordi), she feels miserable about college admissions hanging on her head.

Her decision of either going to Harvard to be with her boyfriend or to UC Berkeley to keep her promise to her best friend, would end up hurting one of them.

In all the melee, she forgets what she truly wants for herself. Whether she decides to put herself first and gets to keep both her love and friendship, is to be seen.

‘The Kissing Booth 3’ is directed by Vince Marcello who has also written the script with Jay Arnold.

Besides the main leads, other actors who reprise their roles in the third installment of the franchise include, Taylor Zakhar Perez, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Meganne Young, and Molly Ringwald.

Shot in South Africa and made under the banner of Marcello’s Picture Loom, ‘The Kissing Booth 3’ is produced by Michele Weisler, Ed Glauser and Andrew Cole-Bulgin and executive produced by King and Adam Friedlander.
