The Great: Russian tug of war in Hulu mini-series

Hulu released the trailer for its upcoming mini-series, The Great. It is a satire based on the life of Catherine the Great of Russia.

The trailer of the web series shows the struggle for power between Catherine and her husband, Emperor Peter. When Catherine comes to Russia as his bride, she expects her life to be romantic and idealistic.

However, she soon realises that her husband is nothing like she expected; he is a dangerous man who would not allow her to rule alongside him.

Refusing to be only a child-bearer and wishing to save the country from her husband, she takes matters into her own hands.

The Great is a comedy that depicts monarchs being suspicious of their spouses and plotting their deaths. It shows the life of one of the greatest rulers of Russia and her rise to power. The description of the web series states:

A very modern story about the past which encompasses the many roles she played over her lifetime as lover, teacher, ruler, friend, and fighter.

The Great stars Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult in the lead roles. Apart from them, it also stars Phoebe Fox, Adam Godley, Gwilym Lee among others.

The historical fiction is written by Tony McNamara. It is set to premiere on 15 May.
