Synopsis
“Set in Victorian England featuring a star-studded cast led by Claire Danes, Tom Hiddleston, Frank Dillane, Clémence Poésy and Hayley Squires, The Essex Serpent follows London widow Cora Seaborne (Danes) who moves to Essex to investigate reports of a mythical serpent. She forms an unlikely bond with the village vicar (Hiddleston), but when tragedy strikes, locals accuse her of attracting the creature.”

The Essex Serpent is based on Sarah Perry’s novel of the same name, which won the British Book Awards for 2016 Book of the Year and Waterstones Book of the Year 2016.

In 1893, an earthquake hits Aldwinter, rumoured to have woken an ancient winged dragon that lives beneath the black water estuary.
Cora Seaborne arrives at the town to investigate the reports of the monster but soon finds herself being linked to its presence.
