‘The Crown’ halts production after Queen Elizabeth II’s passing

Owing to the tragic passing of Queen Elizabeth II, Netflix drama ‘The Crown’ halted production on the day as a sign of respect.

According to information available, the production will also be put on hold on the day of the queen’s funeral.

The show is a historical drama by Peter Morgan based on the reign of the now deceased monarch and her Royal family. It kicks off in 1947 depicting her marriage to Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

‘The Crown’ is in the midst of filming season 6 whereas season 5 is set to premiere in November. Over the course of the seasons, Claire Foy and Olivia Colma have essayed the role of the queen.

However, the latest season (which is inching closer to recent events) will see Imelda Staunton play the monarch.
