The Chrome extension was earlier named ‘Netflix Party’ and only allowed co-watching on that platform. Following the added features of streaming on multiple platforms, its name was changed to Teleparty last year.

After the Pandemic forced lockdowns across the world, communal viewing apps gained massive popularity as viewers had no choice but to remain at home. This gave rise to a demand for ways to watch titles together without going out.

The extension has also benefitted from this change in lifestyle. It currently claims to have a user base of over 10 million.

The official website for Teleparty explains how to use the extension correctly.

The extension is also available on the Microsoft Edge browser, which supports 4K Ultra HD streaming, currently unavailable on Chrome.
