With season 2 of Disney+ Hotstar’s thriller series ‘Aarya’ just around the corner, there’s an air of excitement for viewers. The second instalment will see some new faces, including Tariq Vasudeva, who plays the role of ‘Kedia’.
On the experience of working with Sushmita Sen for the show, he said:
“It was an incredible experience. She gave an intense and emotional performance in Season 1, and I was quite nervous about acting with her. But she made all the new actors, including me, feel like an insider from day one. She creates a family-like atmosphere on the set, which is just amazing to see.”
Vasudeva also shared that she even cheered him on during a difficult scene, which didn’t include her.
“Also, I had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to dance with Sushmita once, and she was so nice that she kept encouraging me and never laughed at any of my silly robotic dance moves!” He joked.
Ram Madhvani is a director who is known to get the most out of his actors. Whether it be Sonam Kapoor in ‘Neerja’, Kartik Aaryan in ‘Dhamaka’ or Sen in this series, they’re all considered to have given one of the best performances of their respective careers under him.
Madhvani follows a different approach to other directors, using multiple cameras for the same shot. Talking about his process, Vasudeva said:
“It was a total privilege and honour to work under his style of direction. As mentioned by him, the 360-degree system is an amazing process for the actors. The cameras are running and there is no action or cut. At some point, actors naturally start the scene and complete it as well.
“As an actor, you are constantly in character and do not break it throughout the long scenes, as there are not many breaks between shots. It pushes everyone into a very real space with each other and by the end of it, all the cast and crew build amazing equations during the shoot, which definitely shows on camera too.”
On Kedia, he said that all he can reveal is that it’s a completely new character, adding that all characters in the upcoming season are “power-packed”, and he is no exception.
“‘Aarya’ is an amazing show with a very strong female lead and a powerful storyline. It shows the strength, courage and determination of a mother who fights against all odds for her family. She is able to turn her weakness into her strength, and I am very happy to be part of a show that tells this story,” Vasudeva concluded.
