Taapsee Pannu’s Thappad now streaming on Amazon Prime Video

T-Series and Benaras Mediaworks produced Thappad starring Taapsee Pannu is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

The Anubhav Sinha directed film is about a couple that has been married for quite some time. However, the marriage hits a standstill when the husband, Vikram Sabharwal (Pavail Gulati), slaps his wife, Amrita (Taapsee) during an office gathering.

That one slap makes Amrita realise the patriarchal construct that she is chained in. All of the ways in which she is being mistreated, also, become crystal clear to her.

Amrita files for a divorce and fights against the injustice that women are subjected to, while everyone continues their barbs and questions her decisions.

Thappad hit the big screen on February 28 and received positive reviews from the audience and the critics before the coronavirus pandemic halted the commercial activities throughout the country.

Pannu also took to Instagram to unveil the digital release of the film on Amazon Prime Video.
