Netflix’s ‘Sweet Girl’ features Jason Momoa in quest for revenge

Netflix’s has released the official trailer for its upcoming action thriller titled, ‘Sweet Girl’. The film revolves around a vengeful husband, played by Jason Momoa, who takes on a pharmaceutical company driven by avarice to get justice for his dead wife, and his motherless daughter.

Sweet Girl’ narrates the harrowing tale of a devastated Ray Cooper (Momoa) whose terminally ill wife (Adria Arjona) dies because a pharma company pulls off its life-saving cancer drug from the market. It does so to pay off its competitors to produce generic brand of drugs.

As he and his daughter, played by Isabela Merced (‘Dora and the Lost City of Gold‘), deal with the trauma and loss, he decides to take revenge from those responsible, by exposing them. His daughter accompanies him in his quest for justice that escalates into a full-on deadly war with powerful antagonists, out to harm the only family he has left.

The trailer for ‘Sweet Girl’ offers a sneak peek at how Ray’s family comes to be, in small flashbacks interspersed with the main high-voltage action where he goes all out to take down the system that failed his wife and to protect his daughter.

Besides the main leads, ‘Sweet Girl’ stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Justin Bartha, Amy Brenneman, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Raza Jaffrey, Lex Scott Davis, and Michael Raymond-James, among others.

Mostly shot in the Steel City of Pittsburgh with debut director Brian Andrew Mendoza at the helm, ‘Sweet Girl’ will start streaming on Netflix from August 20.
