Bengali OTT platform, Hoichoi, on Independence day announced it’s new film Tasher Ghawr starring Swastika Mukherjee.
Streaming on the service from September 3, Tasher Ghawr is Sujata’s tale. A Bengali housewife trapped in the world around her. The film is quite distinct and has a satire aspect to it.
The story upholds the thoughts of a forlorn Mukherjee, a survivor of obvious patriarchy. She’s not admirable, but her actions and words address a relevant evil. This hoichoi film is here with its unconventional plot, to awe and inspire the audience.
Swastika Mukherjee was recently seen in Dil Bechara playing the role of a mother, she was also a part of amazon prime video’s hit series Paatal Lok.
The trailer shows Sujata as she remembers her days before marriage and expresses how excited she was to get married and have a family of her own. She has a tree which is an ear for her to pour her heart out.
But as she expresses herself, a faint sadness on her face follows a quiet sigh, as if shielding some very serious, hidden emotions of anger and anguish. Sujata seems to enjoy her own company and the company of inanimate artifacts that surround her.
Swastika Mukherjee said:
“Tasher Ghawr is going to be a remarkable achievement in my journey as an actress. As you can see on the video, this is a different kind of role altogether. I was thrilled to play the part because this character is independent in her own way, troubled yet happy. She has her own struggles and she vents differently. I am overwhelmed by the audience’s response and I would urge all my fans to give it a watch. Tasher Ghawr will be streaming on hoichoi from 3rd September!”
