Disney+ Hotstar has unveiled the first look for its upcoming special Aarya starring Sushmita Sen in the lead role.
The platform took to Instagram to reveal Sen’s strong and tough character:
The trailer for Aarya is all set to drop on June 5, 2020.
The web series will be directed by Ram Madhvani who is also the man behind Neerja.
While other details of the show have not been released yet, the lead star of Aarya took to Instagram to ask fans to guess what the series could be about:
The series is reportedly a remake of a Dutch thriller named Penoza that follows the life of a widow that takes over a crime business after the death of her husband.
Aarya is one of the few series that was lucky enough to wrap up its shooting prior to the COVID-19 lockdown in India. Sen’s last major role in the Hindi film industry was nearly 10 years back in the Anil Kapoor starrer No Problem.
Last year, Disney+ Hotstar also released two other Indian adaptations of foreign shows. This included Out of Love which was an adaptation of BBC’s Doctor Foster and an Indian remake of the hit comedy The Office.
Besides Aarya, the streaming giant had released another female-centric cop comedy under “Hotstar Specials” named Hundred starring Lara Dutta and Rinku Rajguru.
