‘Surface’ renewed for season 2 by Apple TV+

Apple TV+ has announced the renewal of its psychological thriller series, ‘Surface’ for a second season. The show stars and is executive produced by Gugu Mbatha-Raw. It has been created by Veronica West.

The plot revolves around Sophie, a woman who loses her memory after a failed suicide attempt. She is then forced to piece her life back together as she tries to decipher the reason for wanting to end her life.

Season 2 will see Sophie return to London and rediscover relationships that have haunted her memories. However, the events in San Francisco will soon catch up with her, as she discovers once and for all, you can never outrun your past.

Speaking about the new season, Gugu Mbatha-Raw said: “I am thrilled to continue this journey and dive deeper into the tension and mystery of ‘Surface’ with this brilliant team.

“I love playing Sophie and I can’t wait for fans and new audiences to join us as she enters the dangerous new world of her past in season two. As an actor and executive producer, it’s incredibly meaningful to be bringing this story home to London.”

The eight-episode first season was released on July 29, 2022 and also featured Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Stephan James, Ari Graynor, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, François Arnaud, and Millie Brady.
