Jensen Ackles, one of the leads in the long-running American series ‘Supernatural’, has been roped in for the season 3 of Amazon Prime Video’s R-rated superhero web series ‘The Boys’.
The actor reacted to the news on Instagram:
He is set to play Soldier Boy, The Boys’ version of Marvel’s Captain America. In this universe, Soldier Boy became the very first superhero and celebrity after fighting in world war 2.
Both Supernatural and The Boys have been created by Eric Kripke. Talking about Ackles shifting from one of his shows to another, he said:
“When I was a child, I had a crazy, impossible dream — to provide Jensen Ackles with gainful employment. “I’m happy to say that dream has come true. Jensen is an amazing actor, an even better person, smells like warm chocolate chip cookies, and I consider him a brother. As Soldier Boy, the very first superhero, he’ll bring so much humour, pathos, and danger to the role. I can’t wait to be on set with him again, and bring a bit of ‘Supernatural’ to ‘The Boys.’”
Season 2 of The Boys is slated for release on September 4. A third season was confirmed recently.
