Netflix has announced that its original sci-fi thriller series, ‘Stranger Things’ has crossed over 1.15 billion hours of streaming across the world. This achievement makes it the most popular English language show on the streamer.
This update comes in the wake of the release of ‘Stranger Things 4 volume 2’ that saw the show’s penultimate season reach a bitter-sweet conclusion. The final two episodes had a combined runtime of 235 minutes which teased an exhilarating showdown for the upcoming final season.
The only other Netflix original to cross a billion hours till now was the South Korean drama ‘Squid Game’. In addition, ‘Stranger Things’ also achieved the feat of being #1 on Netflix’s Top 10 list in 91 countries — a first for an English-language series according to the streamer.
Audiences had been waiting eagerly for three years for a new season and it showed when the app briefly crashed due to excessive traffic last week.
The show has been getting rave reviews since its release and will likely continue to improve upon its already colossal viewership figures.
