Star Wars series ‘The Acolyte’ to be led by Squid Game’s Lee Jung-jae

Netflix’s ‘Squid Game’ actor Lee Jung-jae is set to play the main role in the upcoming Star Wars series, ‘The Acolyte’ on Disney+. It is set to begin production later this year and will release in 2023.

‘The Acolyte’ is touted to be a thriller that travels into a galaxy of secrets and brewing dark powers in the last days of the High Republic era.

The series will also star Amandla Steinberg, Jodie Turner-Smith, and more. Leslye Headland (creator of Netflix’s Russian Doll) will fill in the boots of director, writer, executive producer and showrunner.

The term ‘acolyte’ in the Star Wars universe is used to refer to a person with force powers who harnesses them under an experienced Sith Lord.

More details about the plot and Lee Jung-jae’s role are yet to be revealed.
