Special Ops (Hotstar): A sucker punch to terrorism

India’s ongoing fight against terrorism has been a long and relentless one. Now, seasoned director Neeraj Pandey is all set to present a high octane and fresh version of it through Hotstar’s first original of 2020, Special Ops.

The recently released trailer showcases major terror attacks in India including the Indian Parliament in 2001, Mumbai bomb blasts in 2006, 26/11 Mumbai 2008 and the 2016 unrest in Kashmir.

The web series further holds one man responsible for all the incidents and focuses on India’s 19 year manhunt for its “biggest enemy”. It is a story involving a lot of government secrets, RAW intelligence operatives, exotic locations and Adrenalin pumping action.

Reportedly, Shivam Nair (Naam Shabana) has also directed the web series alongside Neeraj Pandey.

Pandey has previously helmed major films like A Wednesday! (2008), Special 26 (2013), Baby (2015), M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016) and Aiyaary (2018).

Soon to be re-branded as Disney+ Hotstar, the streaming service boasts of maximum subscribers in India but had not jumped into producing original shows and films until last year. Special Ops is the first release in a series of upcoming originals already in the pipeline for Hotstar in 2020.
