SonyLIV’s ‘Dithee’ narrates searing tale of grief

SonyLIV has dropped the trailer of its upcoming Marathi drama ‘Dithee’. This last directorial of late filmmaker Sumitra Bhave will be available for streaming from 21 May.

This intense drama based on the Marathi novel Aata Aamod Sunasi Aale, written by DB Mokashi, explores the story of an ironsmith named Ramji, who deals with the loss of his son in floods.

The trailer begins with an extreme wide shot of a man rushing to inform Ramji about the death of his son. Soon enough, the villagers start to have conversations about how the tragedy has left Ramji in a great deal of pain. Ramji, a devotee of God, expresses his discontent with God for bringing him in that situation, even after 30 years of his pilgrimage.

The movie stars Mohan Agashe, Omkar Govardhan, Girish Kulkarni, Kishore Kadam, Amruta Subhash, and Dilip Prabhavalkar in key roles.

Talking about ‘Dithee’ at Pune International film festival 2019, Bhave said: “The subject is about the meaning of and understanding life and death. This story explores the meaning of life. So, obviously, whoever has that love and curiosity about life and its deeper meaning will find this story enticing.”

Bhave is known for winning 6 international, 11 national, and more than 45 state awards. She also won numerous awards for individual categories such as screenplay, direction, art direction, lyrics, and costume design.
