Ian Somerhalder-led ‘V Wars’ cancelled by Netflix

Netflix has cancelled the series V Wars with Ian Somerhalder in the lead after just one season.

Somerhalder, who is best known for his work in the teenage drama Vampire Diaries, continued to work with the idea of vampires yet again in this web series. The official description of the series reads as follows:

“A doctor is pitted against his best friend after an ancient disease turns people into vampires. From the comics by Jonathan Maberry and Alan Robinson.”

Maberry took to Instagram to break the news to his shocked fans:

Somerhalder played the role of Dr. Luther Swann – a doctor trying to find a cure for a virus that has infected his best friend Michael Fayne (Adrian Holmes). In a turn of events, Holmes transforms due to the virus and turns into the leader of a vampire army.

The announcement comes along with the cancellation of Netflix’s sci-fi series October Faction and the religious drama Messiah. All three shows ran for one season only.

Both October Faction and V Wars were produced by the same production – IDW Entertainment.

The web series that launched on Netflix in December 2019 had 10 episodes in its first season. You can catch its trailer right here:
