Sky Rojo on Netflix: Money Heist makers’ new series

Netflix announced the releasing date of the Sky Rojo, an upcoming Spanish web series from the creators of Money Heist. Sky Rojo will release worldwide on March 19. Veronica Sanchez, Lali Esposito, and Asier Etxeandia will be seen as the three leads.

After the successful Money Heist, the creators Alex Pina and Esther Martinez Lobato are gearing up for another hit with the official announcement of the release date and high-octane trailer.

Sky Rojo revolves around three female leads who are exotic dancers at the Las Novias Club. Netflix describes it as: “Staying alive for five more minutes. That is the plan.”

Sharing views about the series, Pina and Martinez said:

“We wanted Sky Rojo to have the same frenetic action as always, but to use that 25-minute runtime to underline the dynamic nature of the plot: the getaway, the race for survival. The third act of a movie or an episode is where all the energy converges to produce the most vibrant explosion of all the conflicts that are being narrated. What we set out to do was to make a constant third act, to funnel our entire story through that frenzied energy.”

In contrast to Money Heist’s hour-long episodes, Sky Rojo will consist of eight, 25-minute episodes. Also, it stars Veronica Sanchez, Lali Esposito and Asier Etxeandia.

It is produced by Vancouver Media. Jesús Colmenar joined creators Pina and Martínez as executive producers. The directing team includes Colmenar, Óscar Pedraza, David Victori, Albert Pintó, Javier Quintas and Eduardo Chapero-Jackson.

According to the reports, the web series was filmed in Madrid and the Canary Island of Tenerife and Netflix has already confirmed a second season of the show.
