Hosted by Tituss Burgess, otherwise famed for his role as Titus Andromedon on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Netflix’s Sing On! adds a new flavour to the age-old tradition of karaoke nights.
Sing On! is a competitive singing web series with eight episodes, where each episode will cater to a different genre through five chart topping hits. The show will follow a karaoke format wherein six contestants will be awarded points based on how well they sing, by an automated vocal analyser.
The contestants will be assigned random lyrics and will have to navigate their way through a song based on memory, which may prove to be a challenging task. Accuracy will be the key as the points assigned will be contingent on pitch precision and exactness of lyrics. Points won will be translated into prize money, the maximum amount being $60,000.
Elimination will take place through voting. With each progressing round, the highest scoring contestants will advance to the next round whereas one contestant will be voted out by the other members. In the end, the remaining two candidates will get to battle it out with a duet.
Over the last month, Netflix has successfully launched Sing On! Spain and Sing On! Germany and this show will be the third instalment, accommodating an English speaking audience.
