Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan streaming on Amazon Prime Video India

Ayushmann Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar’s Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video India.

The theatrical film, originally released on 21 February, tackles the issue of homophobia prevalent in the India society through the story of Kartik Singh (Khurrana) and Aman Tripathi (Kumar), a gay couple who fight for their love.

By the time we’re introduced to the couple they’re already together. Aman’s parents, played by acclaimed actors Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta, are highly orthodox and can’t fathom their son being gay.

Kartik travels to their hometown Allahabad to win the approval of his lover’s family. But the subsequent ride is far from smooth.

Directed and written by Hitesh Kewalya, the cast also features Manu Rishi Chadha, Sunita Rajwar and Maanvi Gagroo.

Khurrana has carved his own place in the industry for his social message films. Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan falls right into that category.

It also serves as Kumar’s first high-profile Bollywood film. He is known for starring in a number of TVF’s popular web series, including Pitchers and Kota Factory.

The film was well-received by audiences and critics alike and particularly praised for its humour and entertainment factor. It is rated 6.5 on IMDb and 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.
