She: Netflix’s web series on female constable’s transformation

All it took was one assignment to redefine herself.

Netflix India has released the trailer for She, a new original web series.

The show is based on the life of a female police constable, Bhumika Pardesi, who is recruited to go undercover to bust an underworld gang, but she seems like a timid girl who is not even trusted by her own boss to get the job done.

Apart from the main plot, the trailer hints that the show will deal with some contemporary issues that women still have to face in male dominated professions; Bhumika is questioned if it is right for a woman to be a cop.

The mission given to her is uncomplicated; the men will be the brains of the operation while she just has to be the face. However, when things go wrong, Bhumika will have to step up.

The web series will portray a woman’s battle with her biggest fear – herself, as she discovers the power of her sexuality, and her rise “above her own expectations to find power in the most unexpected ways”.

The show stars Aaditi Pohankar and Vijay Varma, among others, and is written by Imtiaz Ali. Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Tipping Point are also involved in the project.

She will be released on Netflix on 20 March.
