ZEE5 recently shared the trailer for Ram Kamal Mukherjee’s Season’s Greetings as part of its Short Film Festival.
Season’s Greetings will premiere on 15 April, 2020.
The Indian streaming platform took to Twitter to announce the release:
The short film features Celina Jaitly, Lillette Dubey, Shree Ghatak and Azhar Khan in pivotal roles.
The film marks the comeback of Jaitley to the acting field and the debut of Khan.
Set in Kolkata, Season’s Greetings revolves around a mother and a daughter and is based on Article 377 and the LGBTQ+ community. The film did rounds in International Film Festivals and was praised by many.
Talking about her experience, Jaitley stated:
When Ram Kamal narrated the story to me, I immediately connected with Romita’s character because she is real, just like any character from Rituparno Ghosh’s film. Since the last two decades I have been closely working with LGBTQIA cause and this film deals with issues related with the community and abolishment of article 377. This film is about celebration of love and freedom.
Director Mukherjee revealed that Season’s Greetings is a homage to renowned director Rituparno Ghosh.
He further shared:
I thank Tarun Katiyal and Jay Pandya from ZEE5 for showing faith in my vision. They have always selected unique content and I am glad that my film will be a part of their Short Film Festival. Poila Baishak (Bengali New Year) is an auspicious day for us, and since the film is set in Kolkata and pays tribute to Bengal’s most loved filmmaker, this is the best time to release the film.
