I was scared at first after reading the script: Jaideep Ahlawat on Ajeeb Daastaans

Ajeeb Daastaans actor Jaideep Ahlawat has said that he was scared when he read the script for his short film ‘Majnu’, directed by Shashank Khaitan, in Ajeeb Daastaans as the role was extremely challenging.

Majnu revolves around the battle of affection that engulfs a newly married couple, as well as the interference of a new young male employee. It also stars Fatima Sana Shaikh and Armaan Ralhan.

Ahlawat said about the role:

“I thought the story was complicated and I was scared as it was an extremely challenging role, unlike anything I have done before. I remember when Shashank handed over the script for me to read – I took nearly two days to finish reading the material and then I spoke to him about what he thought of the character to gain more clarity as I still wasn’t sure.

“Babloo’s character is a thug but is totally confined within himself and that makes him very complicated, not easy to read. The challenge is what made me eventually take it up and play it to the best of my ability.”

Ahlawat has been a part of films for years, but rose to prominence for playing Hathiram Chaudhary in Amazon Prime Video’s ‘Paatal Lok’.

Ajeeb Daastaans begins streaming on Netflix from April 16.
