Scam 1992: SonyLIV web series on Harshad Mehta’s stock market fraud

Always wanted to understand how the 1992 stock market scam actually went down? SonyLIV has got us covered and is set to stream a gripping story of the convoluted financial life of Harshad Mehta, in the form of a web series: Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story.

Produced by Applause Entertainment, the series is set in the nineties and will explore the speculative dealings of the stock market bull.

The official description by Applause reads:

“On 23rd April 1992, financial journalist Sucheta Dalal broke the story of India’s 500 Crore securities scam. Set in early nineties Bombay, the show captures the meteoric rise and the steep fall of Harshad Mehta – the flamboyant Big Bull of the stock market, and the investigation and repercussions of the scam that shook the nation.”

Directed by Hansal Mehta and written by Sumit Purohit and Saurav Dey, Scam 1992 will star Pratik Gandhi, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Satish Kaushik, Rajat Kapoor, Sharib Hashmi and Ananth Mahadevan. It’s based on Debashis Basu and Sucheta Dalal’s book ‘The Scame’.

SonyLIV recently announced a revamp with new original web series. Apart from Scam 1992, the platform revealed Your Honor, Undekhi and Avrodh.
