‘Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness’ assures terrifying experience

Netflix has released the official trailer for its web series based on the landmark survival horror video game, ‘Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness’, which is set to release on July 8. This is a CG serialized drama, which is the first of its kind.

Directed by Eiichiro Hasumi, this web series is based upon the widely popular video game franchise of zombie survival horror games, created by Capcom.

The game, Resident Evil has shipped over 110 million copies worldwide, and is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

This CG anime series sees beloved characters from Resident Evil 2 — Leon S. Kennedy (Nick Apostolides) and Claire Redfield (Stephanie Panisello) — returning as protagonists.

Based on the original series, Kennedy is one of Raccoon City’s officers, who is invited to the White House to investigate a hacking incident and the adventure eventually devolves into a battle against a horde of zombies. He ultimately meets Redfield, who is investigating a secret experiment undertaken during the Penamstan civil war — one that likely has something to do with the zombies roaming the streets.

The new trailer sets itself in the year 2006, in the aftermath of the hacking incident in the Whitehouse, two years after the events of Resident Evil 4. It shows that the two outbreaks, resembling the one in Raccoon City, drive Leon and Claire to work together once more to figure out the virus’ true origin.

The President, as well as Whitehouse officials, are prominently featured in the trailer, with implications of a government conspiracy. The protagonists not only confront zombie attacks but also a mysterious Tyrant, gory antagonists and more.

‘Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness’ is animated by Quebico and produced by Capcom Co. and TMS Entertainment. Capcom’s Hiroyuki Kobayashi acts as executive producer, and Kei Miyamoto is the CG Producer.
