Regé-Jean Page will not return for ‘Bridgerton’ season 2

Regé-Jean Page, who was one of the stars of Netflix’s popular Regency-era drama ‘Bridgerton’, will not return for season 2, as per an official announcement.

Page played Simon Bassett, the Duke of Hastings, in season 1, who marries Daphne Bridgerton and the two have a son by the end.

The official announcement came in the form of the infamous Lady Whistledown, who revealed the next season would focus on Daphne’s brother Anthony.

This confirms that the Duke of Hastings’ storyline has wrapped up, though Daphne will be returning to help out her brother.

Page also bid adieu to his character on Instagram. The actor wrote:

“It’s been an absolute pleasure and a privilege to be your Duke. Joining this family – not just on screen, but off screen too. Our incredibly creative and generous cast, crew, outstanding fans – it’s all been beyond anything I could have imagined. The love is real and will just keep growing.”

Bridgerton turned out to be Netflix’s most-viewed series of all time, managing 82 million household views within the first 28 days.
