Southern superstar Rajinikanth’s Into The Wild episode with the renowned survival instructor and television presenter Bear Grylls will debut on Discovery’s new OTT platform: Discovery Plus.
The episode will hit the platform at 6 am on 23rd March, 14 hours before it shows up on the television channel.
The promo, shared by Grylls, shows the pair traversing the wilderness in the same format the survival expert is known for.
Discovery Plus was launched in India only recently and offers content in eight languages: Hindi, English, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Bengali, Malayalam and Kannada.
Talking about the platform, Discovery, Inc. President APAC & CFO International Simon Robinson said in a statement:
“Globally, we are observing healthy trends from direct-to-consumer businesses and Discovery Plus, with its India focused strategy, is a valued addition. The launch of Discovery Plus is a significant development for our business in India and reflects our commitment to this critical market.”
Grylls also recently shot an episode of Man Vs Wild with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which aired on the Discovery network in August last year and then found its way to Netflix.
Netflix also released an interactive series with Grylls titled ‘You Vs Wild’, where the survival expert’s fate rested on the viewers’ decisions. This meant the series had multiple alternate outcomes.
