Amazon documentary gives insight into ‘Rafa Nadal Academy’

Prime Video has released the trailer for the sports docu-series ‘Rafa Nadal Academy’ as part of their growing focus into the sports field. The docu-series focuses on the academy set up by one of the greatest tennis players of all time, Rafael Nadal.

He converted his training centre into a high-performance academy called the ‘Rafa Nadal Academy’, which is based in his home city of Mallorca, Spain. It was created in 2016 as a means to educate students through sport by means of positive academic programmes.

The four part series explores the training methodology of future champions and has been available for streaming on Prime Video since 17th September, 2021. Nadal himself was a huge advocate for this series because he wanted people around the world to get a glimpse of the work being done there.

The series description states: “See what life is like at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar through some of the most promising tennis players in the world. Live an entire season with eight junior and professional players. Training, tournaments, and education under and Rafa Nadal’s supervision. Accomplishments, failures, injuries, and dreams for which everyone works at the Manacor education and high-performance sports center.”

The documentary includes interviews with the academy’s director of tennis, Tony Nadal, former world no.1, Carlos Moya and Carlos Costa, a top 10 ATP player and member of the academy board. The series was directed by Marc Pons and Antonio García.
