Quibi’s content distribution rights acquired by Roku

The Roku Channel announced that it has acquired the global content distribution rights to all of Quibi’s programs. It will exclusively stream more than 75 premium shows created by Quibi.

The streamer will allow all its users to stream the content for free on an ad-supported basis.

Many Emmy-winning scripted web series, reality programs and documentaries starring Liam Hemsworth, Idris Elba, Kevin Hart, Nicole Richie, Chrissy Teigen, Lena Waithe, and many others will also be covered in the content.

In addition to this, numerous new programs are going to exclusively debut on the channel.

Rob Holmes, Roku’s Vice President of programming, said in a statement:

“Today’s announcement marks a rare opportunity to acquire compelling original content that features some of the biggest names in entertainment. We’re excited to make this content available to our users in The Roku Channel through an ad-supported model. We are also thrilled to welcome the incredible studios and talented individuals who brought these stories to life and showcase them to our tens of millions of users.”

Roku is one of the popular digital media players which streams content from various online services. It reported a total of 46 million monthly active users in the United States, in the third quarter of 2020.
