Prime Video to release Vikram Batra biopic ‘Shershaah’ on 12 August

Amazon Prime Video has dropped a teaser announcing the release date of ‘Shershaah’. The upcoming war action movie will release digitally on 12 August.

Shershaah is based on the life of Capt. Vikram Batra, a Param Veer Chakra Awardee known for his contributions to the Kargil War. The movie aims to celebrate his bravery and courageous spirit, for which he was given the title of Shershaah.

The teaser includes clippings from the original Kargil War of 1999, and a glimpse of Siddharth Malhotra essaying the role of Capt. Vikram Batra.

Shershaah is helmed by Tamil filmmaker Vishnuvaradhan, known for directing ‘Billa’ and ‘Arrambam’. The movie is jointly produced by Dharma Productions and Kaash Entertainment. Malhotra and Kiara Advani star in the lead roles, and the supporting cast includes Raj Arjun, Shiv Pandit, Nikitin Dheer, Pranay Pachauri, Himanshu Ashok Malhotra, Anil Charanjeett, Sahil Vaid, Shataf Figar, and Pawan Chopra.

Malhotra shared the trailer on Instagram and wrote: “Heroes live on through their stories. We are honoured to bring to you the true story of the Kargil War hero, Captain Vikram Batra (PVC). A film which has had a long journey for me and a real life character I am proud to play. #ShershaahOnPrime comes out on 12th August only on @primevideoin.”
